Cryptocurrency exchange Bitget launched a simulated demo trading account for its contract-for-difference (CFD) platform on Oct. 15, weeks after completing a phased recovery from a $387.5 million security exploit.
The feature provides users with 10,000 USDT in virtual capital to practice trading foreign exchange, commodities, precious metals, global indices and digital assets using live market quotes. The demo account activates upon agreement to the platform’s terms, requiring no additional Know Your Customer verification.

Traders can adjust their virtual balances at will and test order execution under both Electronic Communication Network and zero-fee models. The simulation runs on identical spreads, leverage parameters and liquidation logic as Bitget’s live trading environment, while an application programming interface allows automated strategies to be evaluated without capital commitment.
Users can toggle between live positions and the simulated environment with one tap on the exchange’s mobile application and web interface.
“The Demo Account runs on the same quotes, leverage rules and liquidation logic as live trading, so traders can learn how CFDs and risk management work with none of their capital at stake,” Bitget CEO Gracy Chen said in a statement.
The rollout comes as the Seychelles-based exchange works to resume routine product development following a Sept. 24 security breach. In that incident, an attacker leveraged compromised credentials from a third-party security tool to forge unauthorized withdrawal commands, draining roughly $387.5 million in digital assets from hot and warm wallets across seven blockchain networks. Bitget temporarily suspended withdrawals before initiating a phased restoration schedule that concluded in early October, confirming that user account balances and cold-storage reserves were unaffected. The exchange covered the lost assets through its $464 million User Protection Fund and reported a comprehensive reserve ratio of 127% alongside independent forensic assistance from Mandiant and SlowMist. The demo interface marks the latest update to Bitget’s multi-asset infrastructure, following the platform’s introduction of tiered margins, sub-accounts and open API support for traditional market derivatives earlier this year.
